3rd John verse 2

Our Great Physician, God Almighty, wants us to be healthy through following His Laws regarding health.

In 3rd John verse 2 the writer John says:

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (KJV)

It is obvious, in the passage above, that the Apostle, John, is encouraging, among other things, “good health,” physically, since he is contrasting it to the propering of the soul, which is not physical.

Our walk with God, as Christians, is not only a spiritual walk, but a physical one as well. We pray, meditate, and believe in faith, but we are also called to DO or to ACT in that which is required of us by God.

Since our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 3:16-17) we must take care of them as proper Stewards and in so doing, be ready to DO what we are called to do above and beyond the average Christian walk, as long as it is in agreement with the Scriptures.

With respect to our health, we must realize that God is the One Who providentially gives and takes away, raises up and casts down, and most importantly He gives life and death.

It is obvious, in the passage above, that the Apostle John is encouraging, among other things, “good health,” physically, since he is contrasting it to the prospering of the soul, which is not physical. Our walk with God, as Christians, is not only a spiritual one, but a physical one as well. We pray, meditate, and believe through faith, but we are also called to DO, or ACT, that which is required of us.

Since our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 3:16-17) we have to take care of them as proper Stewards, and in so doing, be ready to DO what we are called to do, by God, no matter what it is.

With respect to our health, we must realize, and try to help others to realize, that God is the One Who providentially gives and takes away, raises up and casts down, and most importantly gives life and death, so we must give honor where honor is due. We must never forget, ultimately, our good health does not come from earthly physicians, medicines, doctors, or any thing of ourselves, but from God alone (See for example: Deuteronomy 32:36-39, Jeremiah 17:13-14, Exodus 15:26, and Psalm 103 (namely verses 1-6)).

However, if we neglect the proper care, or Stewardship, of our bodies, according to the mandates of God, the Almighty has every reason to punish our disobedience. One of the ways he does that is with poor health.

God has set health laws for us to follow in order to be good stewards of our bodies for the Glory to be given to Him and Him alone. Since God Himself first created the state of good health for our bodies, which we destroyed by sin in Adam’s fall, shouldn’t God know how to make His creation healthy?!? Should we, as followers of Christ, trust Him first for directives in good health?

There are some people who disregard the Old Testament from the Bible because they say “that doesn’t matter to us now because we have the “God of the New Testament”, Jesus Christ, and He has done away with the Old Testament,” in fact they are saying that the Old Testament is out of date and they don’t want it anymore.

In addition to taking out more than half of the Bible and reading it out of context, and Jesus and the “God of the Old Testament” (who is really the same person), but they are also taking out most of the health laws that God wrote through His prophets for us (and them) to live fuller lives for Him. By doing so, they are automatically being very poor stewards of the temple of the Holy Spirit, their own bodies! They might as well say to God “we don’t trust or want your health laws, even though you made health itself, because we now have the modern mainstream medicines which are far better.” This is so wrong and very foolish! I pray that these people will reconsider what they are doing and repent and that God will have mercy upon them.

May God use this blog to open the eyes of the blind, and encourage the faithful, by proclaiming His Power, Glory, Laws, and Mandates, which we must follow.

Praise, Glory, and Power be unto the Great Physician for all Eternity!
