“This article is about the different types of antibiotics and how they came into existence…

At sometime or another, almost everyone has used an antibiotic. You may have used and antibiotic cream for a bad cut. Your doctor may have ordered antibiotics to help you to get over a sinus infection, pneumonia, or some other type of infection.

Antibiotics are chemicals. When the chemicals are put into your body, they will stop the growth of certain kinds of germs. They will help your body to fight disease.

More than 3,000 years ago ancient people stumbled over the discovery that some molds could be used as a cure. The Egyptians, the Chinese, and Indians of central America would use molds to treat rashes and infected wounds. At that time they did not understand either diseases or treatments. They just thought that what was happening was magic. They believed that the molds were driving away evil spirits that were causing the disease.

As time went on, people began to gain some insight of disease. In the 1860’s Louis Pasteur showed that many diseases were caused by bacteria. Later he discovered that we may be able to fight germs with other microbes. It was two German doctors, who were the first to make an effective medication from microbes. Rudolf Emmerich and Oscar Low conducted their experiments in the 1890’s. They proved that the germs that would cause one disease, may be the cure for another.

What the men did was to take the germs from infected bandages and grow them in a test tube. They would then isolate a particular germ that caused green infections in open wounds. This germ was a bacteria called Bacillus pyocyaneus. They then put this into another test tube containing other types of bacteria. It was then that it happened, the Bacillus pycyoneus wiped out the other diseased germs. The germs that it killed were those that caused cholera, typhoid, diphtheria, and anthrax.

From this, the two men created a medication that they called pyocyanase. It was the first antibiotic to be used in hospitals. Unfortunately, it did not work the same on all patients. Some were cured, and still some only became sicker. As a result, this drug was abandoned.

In 1928, a research scientist by the name of Alexander Fleming, made the first real breakthrough in antibiotics. At the time, Fleming was on staff of a hospital in London. He was studying a germ called staphylococcus aureus. He was growing colonies of the germ in a petrii dish.

One day Fleming found a spot of green growing in one of the dishes. It was grown on the gel that was among the germs. He did not throw the dish out because he noticed something in the dish. There was a clear, germ-free ring of gelatin around the mold. This meant that the mold had killed the germ that was there. Fleming watch as the mold grew. The more the molds spread, the more of the germ that was liked off.

Fleming made this a full time project. As he studied the mold he noticed that tiny droplets of fluid began to form on the mold. He wondered if this was the chemical that was destroying the germs.

Fleming drew off the liquid. He found that this liquid could kill germs in a test tube. The name of the mold was Penicillium notratum, so, he decided to call the liquid penicillin. Later, other scientists discovered that penicillin could cure certain infections in mice and rabbits. In turn, it did not harm the animals in any way.

After penicillin came the invention of the sulfa drug. It comes from Prontosil, which is a substance used as a dye. When put into the body, Prontosil changes into and active germ-killing drug called sulfonilamide. It has been proven that this drug could cure pneumonia, scarlet fever, and blood poisoning.

In the 1930’s other laboratories started making other drugs in the same family. These were known as sulfa drugs and became a powerful weapon in fighting disease. The drugs had some serious drawback though. If not enough of the drug was given, the disease would get worse. Giving too much of the drug would upset the bodies defense system, once again preventing a cure.

Penicillin had proven that it worked against pneumonia, scarlet fever, and several other diseases. It had no effect on germs that caused typhoid, influenza, and many other diseases. As a result, scientist had to continue their search for other antibiotics.

An American, Doctor Selman Waksman, discovered a drug called streptomycin. It originated from microbes found in soil and was a cure for many intestinal diseases.

Now we had penicillin and steptomycin. Each was affective against certain diseases, but scientists wanted more. Doctors wanted a broad-spectrum drug. That is, a single anitbiotic that could cure many different diseases.

The search proved successful. One lab discovered Aureomycin, whic is a drug that does the job of both penicillin and stroptomycin. Another lab discovered Chloromycin. In 1949, yet another lab came up with one of the effective antibiotics ever found, Terramycin. This drug could be used against many bacterial diseases. Even with the discovery of these new antibiotics, the search went on.

Many might wonder why scientists try to find new or different antibiotics when we already know of so many. There are several reasons for this. One is that scientists are never happy or content with what they know. They always want to learn more. The second has to do with the antibiotics themselves. Third is the new uses for antibiotics.

For many years antibiotics seemed to be winning the war on disease. As time went on, doctors noticed that some germs were not being killed. Some types of bacterias were no longer being affected by antibiotics that used to kill them.

The field of antibiotics holds many unanswered questions. No one is sure how or why microbes produce the antibiotic chemicals, or if they will always produce these chemicals under all conditions. They believe that the laboratory diet may stimulate the microbes to make these chemicals, but no one knows for sure.

Many diseases are not caused by bacteria but by a virus. Among these are the flu and the common cold. Some types of cancer may also fall into this category. Many research scientists have tested anti-virus antibiotics. They were able to slow the growth of viruses in many cases. Many scientist hope that someday they will be able to develop antibiotics to control viruses as well as bacteria in humans.”

Now I personally do not support antibiotics but they do have their place in the world…

Flu Season is here! Well, it has been here for several weeks now, but are you still unprepared for the winter?

Influenza (the flu) was once a killer disease. People would die long ago from a simple flu virus. Over the years, flu bacteria would grow or change and vary in strength and size of impact due to the people or animals infected and overall impact on the flu bacteria’s growth and structure. Many people might say this is an evolutionary break through… but never has the flu virus turned into, say, the chicken pox, small pox, or cancer, or even a common headache! The flu has always been the flu. Each year there might be a little change in the “strand” of the bacteria, which causes the strength to vary, but it never turns into a different disease.

Through out the centuries there have been major pandemics/epidemics of strands of the flu virus that got “stronger” since the year or two before.

Some of the most “famous” flu epidemics include the following…

In 1878, the “fowl plague” caused major disease in both birds/poultry and people.
In 1918, more people died of flu virus than those who died in World War 1 or in the four years of the Black Death/Black Plague during the Middle Ages in Europe. This flu strand has since been labeled “Spanish Flu” and killed roughly (estimated) 20 million to 100 million people world-wide. It was caused by an H1N1 virus that “got stronger.” (Reminder: This flu virus happened before modern mainstream medicine created antibiotics and before natural medicine and homeopathic medicine was matured.)
In 1924, the first “bird flu” spread among birds, not humans.
In 1957-1958, the “Asian Flu” was caused by an H2N2 virus that spread from China, killing 1 million people world-wide.
In 1968-1969, the “Hong Kong Flu” was caused by an H3N2 virus. The death toll was alot less than the “Asian Flu” even though 34,000 Americans passed away from it.
In 1976, “Swine Flu” breaks out from an H1N1 virus, circulating mainly in pigs, and killing 1 person. At first it seemed that the H1N1 strand was the “Spanish Flu” and that caused some panic to bring on the vaccinations. The problem is that the vaccinations killed 25 people because of “a rare paralytic complication.”
In 1983, an H5N2 flu virus kills spreads in chickens, turkeys and guinea fowl that were in Virginia and Pennsylvania. In order to stop the spreading, and possible human infection by eating the animals, the government had 17 million birds killed.
In 1996-1997, several bird flu cases from the H1N1 flu strand were found in Hong Kong and spreading in the chickens and ducks of the area. Governmental officials destroyed 1.7 million chickens and ducks.
In 2003, H5N1 flu strands spread in places like Thailand and Vietnam causing several deaths of humans and millions of common birds to die or be destroyed.
Between 2003 and 2006, Bird Flu cases have come out in Asia and Europe.

In recent years in America there was a “Swine Flu” scare throughout the country. Officials stated that many people (i.e. 5 to 10 elderly or younger people) died and the government encouraged people to get “life saving flu vaccinations.”

My sister and I both got this “swine flu” and never got any vaccinations and, of course, we are still alive. I can not recommend the vaccinations during this flu season because of all the bad side effect I’ve heard that they come with (but that is for a later post.) But I will recommend God’s medicine that I used. Namely Vitamin C, Echinacea, Licorice Root, Vitamin A, and a little Zinc. Eat Vitamin C rich foods 24/7 if you are sick already or getting sick. Eat things like fresh apples, oranges, raw carrots, salads, homemade non-MSG soups, and “caffeine free” herbal teas that do not  corn starch or modified ingredients in them.

Also, it is a good idea to start a 4 to 7 day long detoxification diet during the season changes to help your body prevent flu even more. I also encourage you look into homeopathic medicines too. My family has used Oscillococcinum (aka Oscillo by Boiron, find it here: and it works really well in prevention and it tastes a little sweet so all ages should love it.

I discourage you from using cough drops while you are sick because most of the common cough drops have some form of sugar in them. Just read the ingredient lists. Of all times, the change from autumn to winter to spring is when you should not increase sugar intake as much as possible. Sugar is the last thing kids need for their immune systems… (to be continued)

This week we celebrated the 4th of July; Independence Day. On that day, 235 years ago, our Declaration of Independence was signed, marking our freedom from the British leadership of that time and making us the United States of America. Several years after that, our Constitution was signed and it has been the longest used Constitution for any country in the History of the world, almost 224 years in use!

These documents are the basics to our liberty and the American dreams. In today’s age these documents, and several of our fundamental freedoms, are being questioned, such as freedom of speech, worship, and the like. Did you ever imagine that our medical freedoms are also at risk… The fact is they might already have been taken.

Let me start by showing you some real modern statistics:

This link shows the lung and bronchus cancer death rates of 2007 for each of the 50 states:

The obesity average nearly doubled between 1980 and 2008 in England, and Americans are the fattest in this study of 2008:

According to this study, 32.4% (or about 1 in 3) adults could be diagnosed with a mental disorder in any given year:

Here is a 2011 map which shows that the average body mass of men over the age of 20 has grown since 1980, almost double of what it was:

Here is a “no-brainer” study that links obese children to things like watching TV:

This link shows some “one in “X” amount of American adults” have which disease:

And so on… you can do your own research and tell me what you find.

It doesn’t take long to find a diabetic, someone with back pain, allergies, asthma, acid reflux, insomnia, depression, heart disease, or even a cancer of some kind. Yet, more then ever in history, we have the MOST medicine, vaccinations, surgeries, doctors, and hospitals. In light of this there are still many people without proper treatment, Americans who are dying from “untreatable” or “incurable” diseases everyday. How many times have you seen on TV another major drug being taken off the market by the FDA because it is linked to birth defects or something? Why do you think that is? Are the drugs “they” provide working? Or is it a waste of time, money, and effort to buy them?

Lets look at some quotes from the past:

The thing that bugs me is that the people think the FDA is protecting them. It isn’t. What the FDA is doing and what the public thinks it is doing are as different as night and day.” –Herbert Lay, M.D., former FDA Commissioner.

If what Mr. Lay has said is true we might be in big danger. This really needs to be looked into more.

One-quarter of what you eat keeps you alive. The other three-quarters keeps your doctor alive.” -Hieroglyph found in an ancient Egyptian tomb. (Meaning that three-quarters of what you eat are causing you to get sick and “need” to go to your doctor.)

Doctors give drugs of which they know little, into bodies, of which they know less, for diseases of which they know nothing at all.” –Voltaire

(Read other interesting and thought-provoking quotes here:

Unless we put medical freedom into the Constitution, the time will
come when medicine will organize into an underground dictatorship…
To restrict the art of healing to one class of men and deny equal
privileges to others will constitute the Bastille of medical
science. All such laws are un-American and despotic and have no
place in a republic… The Constitution of this republic should make
special privilege for medical freedom as well as religious freedom.” – Dr. Benjamin Rush M.D. a signer of the Declaration of Independence and personal physician to George Washington

This last quote from Dr Rush is very interesting because I believe we are at that time in American history. To emphasize my point, consider this: the Food and Drug Administration can make some laws of their own, one of those laws are the following: “Only a drug can cure, prevent, or threat a disease.” (Find that quote here: ) What?!? The FDA, which on their website says they are protecting and promoting your health, is now telling us that only drugs, not natural or homeopathic medicines, are the magic cure-all. Yet, they are taking drugs off the market left and right because of the major side effects that the drugs cause…

In our day, years the government is trying to mandate healthcare for all us citizens (even those who do not want it)… Is the FDA and/or the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) “playing god” by telling us which medicines cure and which don’t? Something is not right here. Are they right? What is correct medicine? What does God really say about medicine and health? I will try to answer these questions in upcoming posts.

If only Thomas Edison was right when he said: “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will instruct his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”

People are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and they want solutions and cures for diseases not cures the symptoms of the diseases. People need to be educated in God’s medicine and His cures. Not only would it be safier and beneficial, but God would bless it since we would be obeying Him and His Law.

May God have mercy on us all to re-focus the medical industary back to Him so we might have true Liberty under God.

Praise be to the Great Physician for all Eternity!
